DZUP 1602 (DZUP), UP Diliman’s (UPD) campus radio station, won five awards at the 20th UP ComBroadSoc Gandingan Awards (Gandingan Awards 2026) on April 25 at the DL Umali Hall of UP Los Baños (UPLB).
DZUP triumphed across three major categories: Core Awards (Programs), General Awards (Radio), and General Awards (Online).
UPD’s radio station, alongside more than 200 other nominees, underwent a rigorous selection process under a panel of judges from UPLB’s College of Forestry and Natural Resources Forestry Development Center, College of Agriculture and Food Science, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Human Ecology, and College of Development Communication.
DZUP was named Most Development-oriented AM Station under Gandingan Awards’ General Awards (Radio).

The radio station DZUP won the award as represented by the National Service Training Program (NSTP) Diliman Office-produced program, Serbisyong Tatak UP, through its episode Kalinga ng Komunidad: Pangangalaga ng Kalikasan at Kinabukasan.
Furthermore, according to a DZUP Facebook post, “Malaking bahagi ang programang ng upang makamit ang gantimpala para sa Most Development-Oriented AM Radio Station. Pagpupugay rin sa mga programang Serbisyong Tatak UP, Tabi-Tabi Folkloradyo, at ng para sa kanilang mga nominasyon sa samot-saring mga kategorya.â€
The award was received by NSTP Diliman Office representative and one of the producers of Serbisyong Tatak UP, Dale Louis Cortez.
Meanwhile, the radio station’s other programs won awards in Gandingan Awards’ different categories.
UP Atin ’To!, the radio station’s flagship program, won two awards: Most Development-oriented Youth Program under the Core Awards (Programs), for its program Reimagining EDSA Para sa Lahat: Inhabiting the In-Between;and Most Development-oriented AM Program under the General Awards (Radio) for its program Baha Pa More! The Environmental Lens on Flooding.


The station’s Tabi-Tabi Folkloradyo won as Most Participatory Program under Core Awards (Programs), while DZUP Balita’s Holistic, multisectoral planning key to flood problem—UP dean won as Most Development-oriented Online News under General Awards (Online).

The Tabi-Tabi Folkloradyo is produced by The Aliguyon-University of the Philippines Folklorists, Inc., a professional academic organization that focuses on the study, preservation, and promotion of Philippine folklore, traditions, and culture. It operates in conjunction with the UPD College of Arts and Letters and the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy.

This year’s Gandingan Awards carried the theme Pakinggan, Tinig ng Kalikasan. According to the award-giving body, Gandingan Awards 2026 recognized “national, local, and community-based media organizations, programs, and practitioners who stand as vanguards against the continued mistreatment of the environment.â€
The Gandingan Awards is a university-based recognition program by the student-based organization UPComBroadSoc. Launched in 2007, the Gandingan Awards’ organizers state it “honors media practitioners, organizations, networks, schools, programs, and materials that champion development-oriented content.â€
