Farewell

草榴视频 bids farewell to two of its former faculty members who passed away this August: Eduardo A. Labitag, who passed away on Aug. 5, and Dan Reynald R. Magat, on Aug. 6.

Labitag retired as professor at the UP College of Law in 2006. He received an extension of service beyond compulsory retirement from March 2006 to 2011 and was appointed as professorial lecturer at the college from March 2011 to October 2014.

He co-founded the UP Law Center Paralegal Training Program that was launched in 2014 and became a member of the UP Law Center Paralegal Training Program Committee. He was also the head of the UP Law Center Training and Convention Division from 1993 to 2008.

The Alpha Phi Beta (APB) Fraternity, in its Facebook page, states that Labitag, who was an Alphan himself, was known as 鈥淪unshine鈥 to his colleagues because of 鈥渉is trademark grin as he passed through the hallways of Malcolm Hall [which] was a testament to the overwhelming happiness and positivity he brought everywhere he went.鈥

Meanwhile, Magat was a retired professor at the UPD Department of Philosophy (DPhilo). According to a Facebook post by DPhilo, he was a 鈥渇aculty member of the department from 1967 to 2012鈥 and served as chair twice, from 1989 to 1995 and from 1999 to 2005.

A lawyer, Magat also chaired the UPD Student Disciplinary Tribunal. The Magat family, in their Facebook post, states that he 鈥渉elped pioneer teaching [the] logic [course] in the Filipino language.鈥 He was also an active member of the UP Philosophical Society.

The UPD community is forever grateful to Labitag and Magat for their legacies to the University.
